Since March, our workplace has been proud to host on-site stop smoking support provided by OnGo Charity, in collaboration with North Lincolnshire Council and the response has been nothing short of incredible.

Thanks to regular visits from Carol and Jo every Wednesday and Thursday, 42 employees have received a Swap to Stop Kit and 39 have signed up for ongoing weekly support. Most impressively, 15 colleagues have already successfully quit smoking with many more on their journey.

This initiative is about more than just quitting, it’s about creating a healthier, happier future. We want to thank each and every person who has taken that first brave step toward a smoke-free life.

Carol and Jo have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome they’ve received. They’ve appreciated how friendly and respectful everyone has been so thank you to all who’ve engaged with them.

We reached out to those who have completed the initial 4 week programme to stop smoking and some have kindly shared their story. Find out what they have to say about their experience:

Louise Newby, “I’ll be honest—for a good week or more, I found it very hard. I’ve smoked on and off for 18 years, and the longest I’d quit before was four. But this time, I’m doing it for my kids—I want to see them grow up and be part of their future. My advice? Keep your mind and hands busy—walk, dance, read, do what makes you happy. The ladies were very helpful, and I really appreciate their support.”

Scott McCulloch, “The ladies were lovely and really supportive.”

Kris Thornton, a 26-year smoker, said, “I’ve never tried to quit before this programme, but it’s been a lot easier than I imagined. Carol and Jo have been fantastic and the encouragement from my shift mates has made a big difference.”

Paul Meagher, after nearly 45 years of smoking, said, “I’ve tried quitting a few times and failed. But Carol and Jo were so friendly and encouraging—hopefully, this time, it sticks.”

We’re proud of every single one of you who’s taken part. Whether you’ve already quit or are still on your journey, know that you’re not alone. The onsite support from Carol and Jo will cry on and we’re excited to hear about more success stories in the weeks and months ahead.
